After my son turned two, my husband and I
thought it was time to make him a big brother. We tried
for all most year before I got pregnant. I found out in
June that I was expecting. It ended in a miscarry at 6wks.
We became pregnant again right a way. I was told that I
had MTHFR, a gene mutation. It has something to do with
the way your body deals with folic acid. I was told this
is why I mis-carried the first time. I was giving a very
high dose of folic acid and a baby asprin because MTHFR
also causes blood clots.
The pregnancy went along just fine. I measured
a little small but the docs weren't to worried. At 33wks
they did a non-stress test because the baby was not moving
as much. Little did I know that I was having contractions
ever 2 mins. and really good ones at that. I didn't feel
them. I wasn't even going to have the test done that day
but something told me to go. They sent me straight to the
hospital to stop labor. They where able to hold things off
with very high doses of magnesium. I was there for 2wks
and then they let me have her. My body was starting to have
effects from the magnesium. She was born at 35wks. Weighing
5lbs and 17in long. She was a lot bigger then they thought
she would be. She was in special care for about 18hrs. She
was having breathing trouble because I had her so fast.
Labor only lasted a hour or so. She came home when I did.
Her cord was really short. Not even 12ins. A normal cord
is a foot to 2 feet. They also sent the placenta off.
When the results came back I was told that
the placenta started to clot off. The docs told me it was
a good thing that I went into preterm labor. They think
I would of lost her if I carried her to term. She is now
a healthy 2 month old. I thank god every day for sending
her to me. I thank my angels for making me go to that appt.
for the non stress test and making me have contractions
strong enough to alarm the docs but not enough to put me
in full labor. She is a miracle.
