Breanna's Story
Krystal & Breanna May
We tried for my 1st baby--a sweet girl for nearly 5 years. But when I did get pregnant it was a very difficult pregnancy I was told we would most likely not be able to have more children. So when I found out on November 4th 2001 that I was pregnant, I tried not to get my hopes up. Throughout my pregnancy I had severe high blood pressure and diabetes and the doctors were surprised how my little one hung on.
At 33 weeks I was admitted to the hospital because she was not getting any blood through the umbilical cord and therefore at high risk. She was born on memorial day weekend May 26th 2002 and weighed just 2 lbs 15 ounces.
We prepared ourselves for the worst because of her size and because she was so early. The doctors where amazed by her-- she never needed oxygen or a feeding tube. She was in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks and went home at 3 lbs 8 ounces. I look at her everyday and she simply amazes me. She is now 10 months old--weighs 14lbs and she's crawling, almost walking. I give her a few more weeks and she will be running around the house. She's still very small for her age but she is not behind in any way. Thank you for reading about our miracle baby story.
