Christopher's Story
Christopher, a 2 lb. miracle!
This is Christopher, Born August 17,1990 at just 27 weeks; 2 Lbs 12 oz., and 15 1/2 " long
I came home without my baby, On my return visit I wanted to find something special for him, I found a white lamb, with blue ribbon that played "Yes, Jesus Loves Me". This stayed on top of his incubator until he was ready to come home.
Due to Placenta Previa Christopher was born early. After several visits to the hospital, The labor couldn't be stopped and the drugs they tried made me very ill.
A C-Section was done. The baby was breathing when he was born. I heard this tiny cry, He was then put on ventilator and on the third day he pulled it out, so they tried him with out it, which was successful! The shots I had helped his lungs to develop. He then had Bradiachardia's, Apnea episodes. They happened quite often. You never forget the alarms, in the NICU.
He then had problems feeding, His doctors didn't know what to do, His nurse, Sandy Hicks, of Children's Medical Center In Dayton Ohio said she spent her whole night off of work thinking how they could tube feed this little guy so it would work. She asked the doctors to put the tube down in his stomach... It worked he and he started gaining weight!
This little fighter knew when I was there. One day a little smile from him and looking at me I knew, he knew it was Mom. Plus I think God knew I needed that.
I couldn't have went through this without God. My faith was tested, I kept God in my heart. My baby was released on October 4, 1990 at 4 lbs 8 oz.
At right, Christopher: Age 10 years.
