Our daughter was a miracle before she was even born.  After 7 years of infertility, I got pregnant by invitro fertilization.  My pregnancy was wonderful and I delivered our beautiful baby girl, Jessica, on July 10, 2002. After many trips to the doctor and emergency room the first week she was born, she went into trauma at 12 days old and we almost lost her.  She was rushed to Children's Hospital where she spent 2 days in intensive care and then was transferred to a Children's Hospital 2 hours away from home.  She underwent open heart surgery at 2 weeks old because her aortic arch had grown the wrong direction and she had two holes in her heart.  Surgery went great, but the morning after she went into trauma and had to be opened back up because of swelling.  She was on a respirator for quite some time and spent a total of 3 weeks in the cardiac intensive care unit. When we came home, she was on a feeding tube and we had home health care visits from a nurse for a couple of weeks.

After a good report from her cardiologist at her one year post-op check-up, we now see the cardiologist only every six months, she is on no medications and no restrictions.  Jessica is now 14 months old and is doing great.  We are so blessed to have her in our lives and she truly is a miracle from God!
