Jonathan's Story
Jonathan, the Miracle Man!
What do you do when the doctors lose hope and tell you there's nothing else they can do? You do what I did let go and let God. Jonathan is my youngest son-- my husband and I adopted him when he was four months old. He was born with Cardio Pulmonary Artesia; by that time he had already had his second open heart surgery with three more to follow. Two days after his fourth (when he was just 2 years old), Jonathan suffered a cardiac arrest as a result he received an anoxic brain injury from lack of oxygen. His tiny lungs filled with fluid, his kidneys failed, his arteries were filled with blood clots, and on top of all that he was at risk of losing his left leg from all the medication pushed through the IV located in his foot.
The doctor's told us that he would never walk or talk again and that we should consider long term pediatric care. But Jonathan is a fighter, and has an indomitable spirit. Today Jonathan is a happy four year old who runs and plays with his big sister Jade, he is extremely vocal and very rambunctious. He continues to have Occupational Speech and Physical therapy on a regular basis, and takes daily medication, but his progress is remarkable, the Doctor's are pleasantly stunned.
Jonathan is a true blessing from God and I am proud to that I was chosen to be his Mom.
