Josefina "Fina" Lopez - A Miracle Baby

I do not know if this is the type of story that you meant, but our daughter is a miracle to us. We tried for four years to get pregnant, but after exhausting all medical procedures and much of our finances, as well as suffering through four heartbreaking miscarriages, we knew that this was not our path. We began looking into adoption, but did nothing besides talk about it for a year.

On September 11, 2001, my husband witnessed the towers fall, and we lost family and friends in that national tragedy. We decided that it was time to stop talking and start moving. We were going to adopt internationally, and began the long and difficult home study process. After a year we were approved for adoption. However, the agency that we were working with closed suddenly. We were devastated!

Luckily, through the internet, I found an agency that specialized in low risk, domestic adoptions. We signed up and 19 days after being an active family, we were matched with our birthmother. She was due the very next week.

We were able to be in the delivery room as the baby was born, and we named her. It was the most beautiful experience. Fina has changed our lives and brought that distant dream of parenthood and family into our home and our hearts. To us, she is the greatest miracle; a beautiful, healthy, happy baby of our very own!
