Skylar Marie's Story
Skylar Marie - A Miracle Baby
My daughter, Tiffany Parker, was thrilled when she learned she was pregnant. Everything was going fine until five 1/2 weeks early, an ultrasound learned her baby was only four pounds and was losing the amniotic fluid. The baby had to be born. Could it survive on it's own? She had an amnio which showed the baby's lungs were strong enough to survive on its own. Her labor was started and the doctor learned the baby was already in the canal.
The baby's head was behind her cervix, which made checking for dilatation almost impossible. They had to give my daughter medication in order to allow them to examine her. The next 12 hours were extremely difficult.
As my daughter lay sleeping, unaware of what is going on, I sat and watched in horror as the baby's heartbeat began to drop. Nothing the nurses did would bring the heartbeat back up to a steady normal pace. The placenta ran out of fluid and they had to run a continuous flow of fluid around the baby. This continued for hours. The nurses came rushing in to put my daughter on oxygen. They said the baby was in need of oxygen.
As my daughter lay in the bed with tubes and wires everywhere, the baby is in distress, losing fluid from the sack and needing oxygen, I felt helpless. The time came for her to push. She eventually had a beautiful baby girl, 4 lbs and 17 1/2 inches. She was in good condition, considering, but kept in the NICU for four days, being fed from a tube. After four days, she was allowed to come home.
WELCOME SKYLAR MARIE DUTY. She is now a healthy, fully matured for her age, beautiful little girl who is almost four months old and already almost 11 pounds! She is truly a gift from God and our miracle.
