Trevor's Story

I had always wanted to be a mom and so after getting married, we immediately started trying to get pregnant.  It didn't happen easy for us and we had to have fertility treatment which included fertility pills and an intra uterine insemination.  After a year of trying we were finally
pregnant and I was thrilled.  At my 3 month ultrasound we discovered that
I had a low lying placenta but was told that this was common and should correct itself.  It never did and when I was 31 weeks pregnant I woke up and started hemorrhaging.  I had a partial placental abruption.  My husband rushed me to the hospital where we thought we were going to have to have a c-section.  Luckily though the bleeding slowed down and I was put on hospital bed-rest and given steroid injections for the baby's lungs.

It was discovered that I had severe pre-eclampsia, and pregnancy induced hypertension and was very near death. An emergency C-Section was done; my beautiful but small son was born weighing 3lbs 4oz.  I didn't get to see him for 2 days and it was so heartbreaking! He ended up spending 6 weeks in the NICU but is now a very healthy and active 20 month old!!!
