Your Miracle Baby Story with Us!

Corinne Kelly
God has so blessed me that I have to
share my miracle baby story. My entire life I've dreamed of being the
mother to three children. As I was born with spina bifida no one
really knew how my body would handle pregnancy or if I could carry a
baby to term. In 1997, our first son was born in perfect health and
three years later we welcomed his brother. After God had already
blessed us with two healthy children we wondered whether we should
risk my health and try for a third. Yet, my longing for another child
was so strong that we decided to try one more time. I would
have loved a third son but my heart's desire was for a daughter. I prayed every
day for God to bless me one more time and in October I found out I was
pregnant.
My pregnancy seemed too good to be true
as my body wasn't suffering from
many complications this time. I had very difficult and painful pregnancies
with both of our sons. I was carrying smaller which allowed me to remain
walking longer. At 16 weeks I had a triple screen test done. We didn't
expect any problems, after all, we already had two healthy boys. We were
shocked when the test came back high for down syndrome. If anything, we
expected a high mark for spina bifida as I had it. For a week, I cried and
prayed,
not knowing if it was God's will for me to have a special needs baby.
We agreed to a level two ultra sound and
hoped that they would tell us everything looked fine but they saw
a shadow on HER heart. Yes, it was a baby
girl. My prayers had been answered. Then, the doctor strongly advised an amnio
so that we could terminate if something were wrong. Didn't the doctor
just see the perfectly formed baby we just saw on ultrasound? We
decided against an amnio as even a small chance of miscarriage from
an amnio was too great a risk for us to take. Unfortunately, this
meant that we would be anxious and wonder for the next five months if
our baby was healthy.
As my pregnancy continued on, I fell
deeper and deeper in love with Corinne.. Every u/s continued to reveal 1-3
holes in her heart. At 37 weeks, I didn't feel her moving so I
frantically called the doctor. I was given another u/s and Corinne was
fine just limited in space. Miraculously, her heart looked normal with no
holes. One week later, I had a c-section and Corinne came into the world.
When I woke up from general anesthesia, the first thing I heard was
"Corinne is fine, she looks just like Christopher".
I'll never forget finally holding "my miracle baby"
and having the overwhelming feeling of having my heart's desire.
